David Thal to Participate in Gallery Exhibit and Panel Discussion

Cleveland Ohio, November 14, 2012 – Sketches by architect David Thal, of Weber Murphy Fox’s Cleveland office, can currently be seen in a Gallery Show entitled Achitects Draw at the Convivium33 Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio from now until December 2nd. David will also participate in a panel discussion to talk about the show and the importance of drawing as relates to the profession of architecture on Saturday, November 17th at 2 pm at Convivium33 gallery.

Sponsored by AIA Cleveland, Architects Draw is an exhibition concept conceived from Peter van Dijk ‘s appreciation for what may seem natural but in today’s age and fixation with all things digital, is not.  Peter, who spent a year in Rome on a Fulbright fellowship, will be featured as a special guest artist and will showcase his personal travel sketches from over the years. The juried exhibition will include recent works in a variety of disciplines by Architects and students of Architecture.

Architects, intern architects, associates and architecture students were invited to submit travel sketches, paintings, watercolors, and similar works of art outside the normal business of architecture.  The jurors included Artist, Cathie Bleck, CIA President, Grafton Nunes, Artist, Christopher Pekoc, Artist, Antonia Reiner and Artist and Art Critic, Douglas Max Utter

The exhibit will be on display from Friday, November 2nd through December 2nd, 2012. Exhibit viewing hours are Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am-2:00 pm

The accompanying Panel Discussion will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at 1433 E. 33rd Street in Cleveland, Ohio. The Panel is hosted by AIA Cleveland in partnership with the Ohio & Lake Erie Chapter of the Institute of Classical Art and Architecture.

The Panel Discussion will provide for an interactive discussion between the panel and the audience, led by the moderator of the panel. The purpose of the event is to incite a discussion about the philosophy of drawing, its importance in general, with a reference to architects who have connected sketching and design over the centuries, and the traditions of architecture and drawing. Discussion will include insight from the jurors on the Architects Draw exhibition and their thoughts on the importance of drawing

The panel will include Peter van Dijk, Christopher Pekoc, Cathie Bleck, David Thal, David Ellison and will be led by Moderator Charles Michner
