Initial funding announced for the WMF designed Roessler Park Improvements, Erie, PA

Improvements include the installation of a new playground, play equipment, jogging trail, soccer area, and landscaping. The park plan is designed as an initial phase of an overall park master plan that stretches along the south edge of East 15th Street and spanning 4 city blocks from Parade Street to Wayne Street.

“This grant and the improvements it supports are a very important first step in achieving our ultimate vision of creating a recreational corridor that serves our east-side neighborhoods”, said project designer Brian Weber. Mr. Weber first reached out to the SNOOPS Neighborhood Association in early March, 2016 in an effort to identify opportunities to support local community efforts. Working closely with the City and with Sue Moyer, SNOOPS Elm Street Manager, the team created a project vision and strategy for the funding and grant application. The funding for this initial phase include the $45,000 Greenways Grant, $25,000 in matching funds from the City of Erie toward the playground equipment, and $30,000 of in-kind services for the design, site prep, jogging trail, and landscaping.

“At Weber Murphy Fox, we are always looking for opportunities to give back to our community and support local efforts to improve the quality of life in our City and County. Roessler Park is one of those opportunities and we are looking forward to helping the City and SNOOPS implement these improvements for the neighborhood.” said Brian C Weber.
