Designed to be a major gateway structure for visitors, alumni, and students. This structure houses the admissions and financial aid departments, provides a new home for Behrend’s alumni activities, and provides an indoor-outdoor general reception and presentation space. The goal for the Welcome Center is to achieve LEED Silver standards.

At the Metzgars’ request, current Penn State architecture students were included in the process to provide them with a glimpse into their chosen profession. As part of their coursework for the semester, students enrolled in an Architectural Design course last spring created designs based on the project’s actual parameters.
