SICU Unit Renovation

MetroHealth

Weber Murphy Fox was the interior design consultant for MetroHealth System’s Surgical Intensive Care Unit. The project was a 15,500 SF relocation of 15-beds to the 5th floor of the Hospital.

The interior design concept for the unit was to soften the clinical atmosphere for patients and family. A curving central nurse station of wood and the soft flowing lines used in architectural forms and flooring patterns combined with an uplifting color palette unify the design theme. The result is a physical space that lifts the human spirit and enhances the healing experience.

We were also the interior design consultant for a second of MetroHealth System’s Surgical Intensive Care Units; this unit is also located on the 5th floor in a separate wing.

For this unit the design concept was the same as the first unit, although the intent was to create a common thread between the two units while maintaining their own identity. We accomplished this by maintaining the overall field color and sweeping forms and then creating this units own identity through pattern and hues of color.
