Historic Preservation  |  Historic Tax Credits for Colleges & Universities

Before Image

The cost of higher education continues to rise. Experiencing similar upward pressure are expectations for improvements to, and expansion of, the built campus environment. With cuts to capital improvement budgets and a difficult fundraising environment in the current economic climate, these conditions place in increasing demand on college and university administrators to do more with less. We recognize these pressures and are committed to helping you leverage the historic and architectural qualities of your older buildings to bring a new funding source to campus projects not typically considered by administrators.

Our project team provides expertise in the development, design, management, and delivery of Federal and State historic tax credits to colleges and universities for the rehabilitation of buildings that are at least fifty years old. Many campuses have outgrown their physical boundaries and need to expand. Rehabilitation of historic buildings acquired for program and campus expansion are also eligible for historic tax credits.

Depending on location, historic tax credits can easily provide a third of the rehabilitation project budget. That means less fund raising for administrators and the ability to make capital improvement dollars go farther. With emphasis on the reuse, rehabilitation and expansion of existing buildings, we have a history of working closely with institutional partners. Let us help turn your historic buildings into project financing assets.
