Penn State Behrend

The Robert and Sally Metzgar Admissions & Alumni Center was recently completed on the Penn State Behrend Campus. This project is LEED Registered targeting LEED Silver. The clients direction was – try diligently to achieve certification, but do NOT buy points. With this in mind, a cost based approach was taken to target LEED certification. A cost analysis was performed for each point and we pursued each point that did not represent additional construction dollars.

LEED performance highlights included:

• Site selection, alternative transportation, site development, and storm water management
• Water efficient landscaping and water use reduction
• Energy performance, refrigerant management, green power
• Construction waste management, recycled content, regional and renewable materials
• Achieve most indoor air quality points
