Hammermill Library
Mercyhurst University
Client Goals
The initial thrust of the renovations was to accommodate the Thomas J. and Michele Ridge Collection.
Additional client goals centered around creating a “Place and Space”.
- That synthesized traditional collegiate library space based on individual study with an emergent technologically-support group study model.
- Incorporates a Peer-Learning Service for Students (Tutoring and Writing Center).
- Is mindful of “emotional architecture” that creates a scholarly environment for both the library and IT functions while encouraging users to engage and collaborate.
