CLIENT GOALS

Live Web Cam: Construction in Progress!

In 1995, a building originally built in 1906 was gifted by Erie Insurance to The Erie Children's Museum. A significant asset to the community, the Museum sees 64,000 visitors annually and memberships are continually increasing. Due to this incredible growth, The Erie Children's Museum has developed a plan to expand its capacity resulting in a greater impact on Erie’s future. The current structure will be renovated and expanded to just over 25,000 square feet in two stories, doubling their current capacity.

SOLUTIONS

WMF will maintain the historical streetscape look of the current building while completely renovating the interior in concert with well-known exhibit designers, Jack Rouse & Associates (JRA). The new Museum design will complement the building’s original architecture while making a vibrant statement that embraces their new focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). The design will also incorporate nearly 4,000 square feet of garden space between their building and the Erie Art Museum. Concept images developed by JRA.

RESULTS

The renovations are ongoing and the project is scheduled for completion in 2023.
