The hospital needed additional operating rooms and wished to outfit one of the OR’s with a da Vinci Surgical System. The expansion of the Operating Suite would take existing space that the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit occupied. As this was a renovation of existing space in an operating hospital the project required intensive phasing to minimize impact to ongoing operations.
The project renovated the third floor Clinical Addition area of Building 1 of the hospital. The proposed area of renovation was approximately 14,000 square feet and included the existing Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). Actual area of renovation increased to 16,113 square feet. The existing PACU was relocated to make room for the additional operating rooms. The MICU was converted to SICU by the hospital to make room for the PACU.
“It was a pleasure working with the combined WMF/RMF team and the facility continues to enjoy the state-of-the-art Robotic Operating rooms and new PACU unit developed via this project.”
