Gannon University sought to transform the Gitnik Manse into a modern, multi-functional space for academic and social gatherings while preserving its historic character. The goal was to enhance student engagement, improve accessibility, and create an inviting environment that supports the university’s vision for community-building and innovation.
Our firm developed a design solution that emphasized adaptive reuse of the existing structure, blending historic preservation with modern upgrades. We reimagined the space to provide flexible, multi-use rooms, integrating technology for contemporary learning environments. Sustainable materials were prioritized, including energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, as well as low-VOC finishes to improve indoor air quality. The design maintained the building’s historic charm while adapting it to meet modern academic and social needs.
The Gitnik Manse renovation successfully created a vibrant space that facilitates both learning and social interaction. The project was completed on schedule and within budget, contributing to Gannon University’s mission to provide a dynamic campus environment. The renovation has been well-received by students and faculty, with feedback highlighting the building’s enhanced functionality and inviting atmosphere. The project also helped further the university’s commitment to sustainability through energy-efficient upgrades and eco-friendly materials.
