Kyocera AVX

Kyocera AVX Advanced Manufacturing and Corporate Workplace

Project Swordfish was conceived as part of Kyocera AVX’s strategic acquisition of Bliley Technologies, expanding its quartz crystal division and strengthening its global manufacturing capabilities. The move from the legacy Bliley facility to a purpose‑built 48,000 SF environment within Penn State Behrend’s Knowledge Park enabled Kyocera AVX to operate in close alignment with world‑class academic research, advanced testing resources, and a highly skilled engineering talent pipeline.

This new setting, surrounded by the wooded landscape of the Behrend campus, positions the building harmoniously within both its natural and academic context. The exterior architecture balances warm campus stone with modern insulated metal panels—an intentional material pairing that bridges the historic character of Penn State Behrend’s traditional buildings and the contemporary aesthetic that defines Knowledge Park. Large expanses of glazing reinforce transparency and visibility, while the building’s calm presence within the forested site reflects the company’s global commitment to precision, cultural connection, and environmental sensitivity.

Inside, the architectural language continues this duality of tradition and innovation. Influenced by global travel environments and Kyocera’s Japanese heritage, the interior design incorporates warm wood materiality, refined lighting strategies, and intuitive spatial organization. The result is a facility that supports high‑precision manufacturing while conveying hospitality, professionalism, and a universally welcoming experience for employees, partners, and international clients.
