CLIENT GOALS
Create a 95-room destination hotel by enhancing brand standards. Specific elements targeted for enhancements include the exterior arrival sequence, Lobby, Breakfast Room, Pool, Meeting Room and VIP Suite. Unique to Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton properties is the addition of a restaurant and bar featuring a large exterior deck. As the 1st element in the development of Harbor Place this hotel establishes the brand identity for Harbor Place while responding to future improvements and amenities.
SOLUTIONS
The hotel adopts an arrangement where most guest amenities and support services are located on the ground floor with guest rooms in a 7-story tower above. The guest rooms are oriented to provide views of Presque Isle bay.
Exterior Arrival – rather than the typical open porte-cochere the design reimagines arrival under a long welcoming canopy sheltering guests and vehicles from inclement weather.
Lobby - provides immediate access to Guest Services, and comfortable seating with views to the adjacent Breakfast Room and Pool.
Breakfast Room – with large windows facing the south and west the Breakfast Room provides views of Front Street and Harbor Place. Immediately adjacent is exterior seating on a wraparound plaza.
Pool – with south facing windows to capture abundant natural light the pool is a central amenity with an exterior sun lounge immediately to the east.
Meeting Room – located on the northwest corner of the Ground Floor the Meeting Room with its patio is situated to provide a unique and special view of Harbor Place’s planned floating Performance Stage.
VIP Suite – the VIP Suite provides a special upgraded experience from the typical brand experience.
Restaurant and Bar – located on the north side of the 8th Floor is the restaurant and bar. The restaurant seats up to 85 people while the bar can seat up to 45 people with a mixture of low-top, high-top, and at-bar seating. A cantilevered deck to the west extends the views and experience to the exterior, the deck seats up to 65 people in a variety of accommodations. The exterior experience is extended to the interior with large folding doors opening to the deck. In addition to the beautiful western views of Harbor Place and Presque Isle Bay large windows facing north and east provide views to the Perry Monument, entrance channel and overlook the home berth of Pennsylvania’s tall ship flagship Niagara. An express elevator provides direct access to the restaurant and bar.
RESULTS
Providing a unique destination hotel for Scott Enterprises target market the Hampton Inn and Suited at Harbor Place broke ground in mid-May 2018 and has a planned opening in the 3rd quarter of 2019.
