CLIENT GOALS
The existing YMCA was in need of capital maintenance, facilities improvements and expansion to meet the needs of its growing membership. The project required phasing to implement the improvements to the existing YMCA and a position the YMCA for future expansion. Phasing and construction sequencing was necessary to accommodate periods of fund raising.
SOLUTIONS
A three phase project was developed to meet the organization's goals.
Phase 1 was completed and consisted of a new addition, comprising 17,715 GSF. The addition includes the Wellness Center, cafe, community room, gymnasium, locker rooms and storage.
Phase 2 represents renovations to the existing building. It is approximately 9,267 GSF with a construction budget of $1,765,000. Identified as Fitness and Youth, space will include exercise studios, Childwatch, Youth Center, Teen Center, racquetball, and storage.
The natatorium is a Phase 3 addition and will encompass 11,890 GSF with a construction value of $4,594,000.
RESULTS
With the completion of phase 1, the Titusville YMCA underwent its largest and most vital transition in its 100 year history. The newly constructed Wellness Center allowed the YMCA to move out of the outdated 100 year old building into a newer, more accessible facility with additional program space to better serve community’s needs.
